Rohit Sharma’s led India outplayed Australia in home conditions, but will face stiff competition from them in World Test Championship final in June. As India qualified for the WTC final for the second time in a row, Australia will make its debut appearance in the finals.
With most Australian Test players not participating in the IPL, they will come with better preparation than India for the finals. When asked about India’s plan going into the final. Rohit Sharma said that the Indian management will monitor the workload of players and the players from the teams who failed to qualify for the IPL playoffs might be sent earlier to accumulate the conditions in England.

“It’s quite critical for us. We are going to keep in constant touch with all the players who are going to play that final and monitor their workload and see what’s happening with them, Around 21st May, there will be six teams who will be possibly out of IPL play-off contention and so whichever players are available, we will try and find time to get them to the UK early as possible and get some time and we will monitor as much as possible,” he stated.
With India already losing out to Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and Shreyas Iyer due to injury the Indian management should have a constant talk with the IPL franchise over their workload management. World Test Championship will be a big opportunity for India to end India’s drought in ICC events.
We Are Sending Some Duke Balls To All fast bowlers – Rohit Sharma On India’s Preparation for WTC Final
Rohit Sharma further added the management will send a few Duke Balls to Indian Fast Bowlers so that they can practice with those balls in preparation for World Test Championship. The potential India Fast bowling unit for the World Test Championship will be Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, and Shardul Thakur as they must be managed properly during IPL.

“In fact, we are sending some Duke Balls to all fast bowlers and if they get some time to bowl with that but again it all depend on individuals, guys who will be part of finals are not the guys who have not played in the UK and maybe one or two guys here and there and rest all of us have played in that part of the world. I don’t think it will be a huge problem and but yeah, look I believe in preparation, and preparations will be key for us come to the finals,” Rohit said.
The WTC final is played in June after the completion of the IPL and this year, the final is on May 29 while the WTC will begin on June 7 at the Oval. India will take on Australia in the ICC tournament finals after 20 long years.
